I am Miss Hollowood and I teach RE here at Egerton. Our RE classes encompass a variety of religions as well as philosophical and ethical issues, giving our pupils a wide range of fascinating topics to investigate. Students are presented with concerns regarding fact, meaning, and purpose, which helps them form their own principles, views, and perspectives on religious matters.

Additionally, students will learn how our society relies on religion, philosophy, and ethics. They will gain the capacity for abstract thought, leadership, and research, as well as analytical and critical thinking abilities. All of these will aid in preparing students for postsecondary education, employment, and life in general. Our pupil’s tolerance and understanding are fostered by the subject.

KEY STAGE 3/4

Within Key Stages 3/4, RE is taught through themes, with the subject matter changing every term. In Year 7 we study an overview of Religious Festivals, Christianity, World Religions (Belief and Philosophy) and Sikhism. The Year 8 curriculum builds on this and looks at Islam, Judaism, Religion and Conflict, Religion and Philosophy and Religion and the Afterlife. Year 9 and 10 topics include; Alternative Religions, Religion and Human Rights, Religion, Science and Ethics and Types of Christianity.
